What I Ordered
Beef Dumplings
$9
I ordered the beef dumplings with all the available toppings. This dish included about 10 small dumplings stuffed with beef and topped with melted butter, fresh cilantro, curry powder, and sriracha. They were bite sized, warm, and very saucy. Additionally, they were served a piece of bread on the side. I believe the purpose of the bread dis to mop up and eat the remaining sauce in the dish. All in all, they were pretty good and very interesting. The dough reminded me of an Asian dumpling but the flavor profile was more eastern European.
Overall Food
Overall, the offerings at Pel’Meni are extremely basic. The menu offers potato dumpling and beef dumplings with four topping options and a small assortment of bottled and canned drinks. I think this is a fun spot to grab a unique local snack in Sitka.
Service
The service experience is quite limited at Pel’Meni. You order your food at the register and receive it there as well. It is primarily a takeout snack shop. The staff were very friendly and efficient. They were happy to recommend toppings and areas around town to sit and eat.
